It’s all about size

Here’s a video I though was kind of interesting. Shows the Earth in relation to other celestial bodies.

On a different tone, The Miniature Earth Project, demonstrates what the Earth would be like if the population was reduced to only a hundred people.

Firefox Extensions

Firefox is pretty much the only browser I use lately and one of the reasons if the vast number of extensions available for it. Below is the list of extensions I install as soon as I install Firefox.

  • Adblock Plus
Enables the blocking of ads and images on websites. When I installed, I didn’t choose to use a filter subscription. I instead right-click on any ads that I want to block, choose “AdBlock Image”, and put a few asterisks in the address of the block.
  • Download Statusbar
Instead of having the download manager pop open each time I start a download, I have the status of the downloads appear in the statusbar. I run it in “Mini Mode”.
  • Greasemonkey
Allows the use of scripts to customize the way a webpage displays/behaves. You can find scripts at http://userscripts.org. The only one I currently use is, Auto Add Feed to Google Reader, which bypasses the option to add a feed to your Google Homepage.
  • Pearl Crescent Page Saver Basic
By right-clicking on an empty area in a page, you can create a PNG or JPEG image of the entire page or just the visible portion. After installing, I change the default image format to JPEG and remove the toolbar icon.
  • Resizeable Textarea
Enlarge the textarea on a website so you have more room to edit the text. To do this, drag the edges of the box until it is the size you want.
  • Tab Saver!
Allows you to reload the tabs of the previous session by pressing the key combo Ctrl-Shift-T.
  • TinyUrl Creator
By right-clicking you can create a short address to a page, no matter how long the initial address might be.
  • Undo Closed Tabs Button
Allows you to reopen previously closed tabs via a button in the toolbar.
  • Update – Snap Links
Allows you to open multiple links in new tabs by dragging a box around them. I turned off Auto-scrolling in the Firefox preferences and set Snap Links to respond to the middle button.
